Cello lessons with Cory
A little about my teaching...
I aim to teach students how to approach their goals with organization and purpose, whether for contests, competitions, auditions, recordings, or playing just for fun. Since I believe 99% of a student's growth happens outside of the lesson, in their own practice time, I see it as my job to teach students how to become their own teachers at home.

Nobody has ever or will ever "finish learning" the cello. I find the process of pursuing growth in my own playing thrilling and inspiring(as nerdy as it sounds). I hope to instill this same outlook in anyone I teach because if we only ever strive for perfection, the learning process becomes far less rewarding.

Since cello can be heard in every genre of music, I aim to equip students with the freedom to adapt to any musical environment they can imagine. This means having a well-rounded education in music theory and history, in addition to understanding how we can manipulate our technique to fit the needs of any style. As an active performer, I might perform in a classical music concert one evening and find myself playing in a recording studio for a contemporary artist's new album the following morning. My teaching reflects my belief that versatility is an essential skill for cellists in today’s musical landscape.
With a love for music, a problem-solving mindset, and the patience to embrace mistakes as part of the learning process, anyone can learn to play the cello.
